2023년 국가암등록통계에 따르면 남성암 1위는 폐암을 제치고 전립선암이 차지했습니다. 전립선암 환자 10명 중 9명이 노년층일 만큼 가장 중요한 위험인자가 나이이기에 50세 이상의 남성은 증상이 없어도 매년 전립선 특이항원(PSA) 검사를 받는 것이 권장됩니다. 이미 우리나라가 65세 이상 인구 비중이 20%를 넘어가는 초고령 사회로 진입한 만큼 전립선만을 위한 센터의 역할이 중요하다고 한양전립선최신치료센터 조정기 센터장은 각오를 다졌습니다.

According to the 2023 National Cancer Registration Statistics, prostate cancer has surpassed lung cancer to become the most prevalent cancer among men. Since age is the most significant risk factor—with 9 out of 10 prostate cancer patients being seniors—it is highly recommended that men over the age of 50 undergo an annual Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) test, even in the absence of symptoms.

As Korea has officially entered a super-aged society, with the population aged 65 and older exceeding 20%, the role of specialized centers dedicated exclusively to the prostate has become more crucial than ever.
