Hypothermia refers to a drop in core body temperature to 35°C or below. The lower the body temperature falls, the more dangerous the condition becomes, and in severe cases it can lead to cardiac arrest. It can occur with prolonged exposure to extreme cold or cold environments, and extra caution is needed when alcohol has been consumed.
