Blood cancer refers to cancer that arises in the bone marrow, the organ responsible for producing blood cells. The bone marrow makes three types of blood cells: white blood cells, red blood cells, and platelets. When the bone marrow malfunctions, abnormalities in the number, shape, or function of these cells can cause a variety of symptoms. Frequent nosebleeds or easy bruising can occur, but these symptoms do not necessarily mean a person has blood cancer. If abnormal results appear on a blood test, please consult a hematology-oncology specialist.2026-06-26

Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) is a treatment that transplants hematopoietic stem cells, the cells that give rise to white blood cells, red blood cells, and platelets. It was previously known as bone marrow transplantation, but the name changed once it became possible to collect these cells from peripheral blood as well. It is mainly used to treat blood-related malignancies, and both the treatment process and follow-up care afterward are important.2026-06-26

Leukemia is a malignant tumor that arises from immature blood cells in the bone marrow. It is classified as acute or chronic, and as myeloid or lymphoid depending on the type of cell involved. Unlike in the past, advances in medicine, including targeted therapy, have expanded the treatment options. Please discuss the diagnosis and treatment plan thoroughly with a hematology-oncology specialist.2026-06-26
